The corn plant is actually native to Mexico in North America. Some say that this plant bends well with the plant called Teosinte. It is said that this plant was brought to our country by the kings who ruled in Sri Lanka during the 16th and 17 centuries.
The genus of this plant is Pancoideae and the botanical name is Zea mays. One or more spikes on a maize tree. Seed rows in pairs. The pods are 5-45cm long and 3-8cm diameter . Also, this corn makes very tasty delicacies. In Sri Lanka corn is used to make Samaposha. It is also used to make porridge, bread, pittu, Pusnappa, steamed milk corn, popcorn & traditional foods.
Corn also has the potential to meet 18.7% of the body's daily fiber requirement. It also lowers cholesterol levels and reduces the risk of colon cancer. It also has high levels of folate, which is good for the heart. It also contains vitamins like vitamin B1 & B5.
So because of the above I most like to eat corn. πππ
